Lowe \u00e0 Sainte-H\u00e9l\u00e8ne. \u00ab <em>Count Balmain said, that notwithstanding count Bertrand and Montholon had called upon him, he has never returned their visits, nor had he ever renerved his application to be prevents to Bonaparte \u2014 though he has received the authority of his court, to ask to be presented as a private individual \u2014 but he has prefered acting on his own discretion \u201cet attendre une occasion plus propice\u201d. Il arrive \u00e0 Sainte-H\u00e9l\u00e8ne le 17 juin 1816. Il repartira le 3 mai 1820 sans avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 re\u00e7u par l\u2019Empereur malgr\u00e9 ses liens avec certains membres de la colonie fran\u00e7aise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab <em>Ceci n\u2019est pas enti\u00e8rement exact, attendu qu\u2019il y a une (1) transposition des divers points de la contestation, qui d\u00e9nature (2) le fait. Gorrequer : \u00ab <em>The Conversation was a long one, but the part to which this relates very short, and the note was taken down in writing immediatly afterwards by me and read by the Governor, to whom I appeal for its <\/em>[\u2026].<em> The conversation was in french, but the purpose the same as I <\/em><em>saw<\/em><em> expressed above, which was copied verbatim from the original note, without transposition or alteration.
