Warner Company Inc.Le document est signé par les deux. Le document est accompagné d’une page faisant certifier devant notaire chaque signature et une lettre de Pfeiffer à Hemingway au sujet du patrimoine fiduciaire. Ce document a été signé après la publication de son ouvrage “Les neiges de Kilimanjaro”.
Ernest Hemingway contract signed, dated 4 January 1938. Headlined « Ernest Hemingway, Trustee », contract in the form of a letter by Gustavus A. Pfeiffer to Hemingway delivers 23 shares of William R. Warner & Company Inc. stock. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Hemingway and in blue ink by Pfeiffer. In very good condition, with diagonal crease through last letter of signature, binder holes to left edge, paperclip impression to top edge and a bit of scattered light toning. Accompanied by a page notarizing each signature and a letter from Pfeiffer to Hemingway about the Trust Estate. Following the publication of his 1936 short story, “The Snows of Kilimanjaro”, Hemingway, a one-time ambulance driver in World War I, focused his attention on the travesties of the Spanish Civil War. Having witnessed the horrors of war firsthand, Hemingway grew concerned that inserting himself into a war zone as a reporter also meant placing himself in harm’s way, hence his creation of this trust for his son, made in connection with his wife’s uncle, Gus Pfeiffer.
