ANTHEIL George [Trenton, New Jersey, 1900 - New York, 1959], compositeur et pianiste américain.

Lettre autographe signée

Lettre autographe signée, adressée à Jacques Benoist-Méchin. Florence, 12 février 1927 ; 1 page in-folio en anglais.
« Don't write anything anything derogatory to the government about my little story about the cat and the train conductor (which is incidentally true) but present it, if at all, in a humorous light.... and keep an eye... if your papers are interested on the concert situation in Rome, it should have intersting developments... it is not at all impossible that Mussolini could come, as Olga Rudge, my fiddler is very powerful and influencial in Rome and has powerful friends, so the unkecord of is likely enough.
If you are interested in my luking to Rome to play the concert with the cat in my knapsack, go to Sylvia Beach and get full particulars.
I am all for the racisti, and for Mussolini. I am sure that the American papers should they give them a boost through me or a little of any about my Rome concert would not among them.
Jack, I've written this same thing to just a very few of my friends ; if you are anxious for news regarding my .... which I am beginning this afternoon go to Sylvia Beach immediatly before anybody else does.
And believe me, anything slightthing that you can do will not go unappreciated or forgotten.
Love and affection from your friend
George Antheil.»
